Cadiz City Hall under lockdown after 3 employees catch COVID
BACOLOD CITY – The Cadiz City Hall in Negros Occidental is under temporary lockdown until Friday, March 26, after three employees contracted COVID-19.
Mayor Salvador Escalante said he ordered the temporary closure of the City Hall after an employee caught COVID-19.
Escalante said that the employee was swabbed on March 21 and the result that came out on Monday showed that he was positive for COVID-19.
Another random swab test was conducted on city employees Tuesday in which out of the 36 who were swabbed, five tested positive of the virus.
Escalante said three of them were city government employees and two were policemen. They were have been quarantined at the city's quarantine facility.
He said he also recommended a five-day lockdown of City Hall 2. All city employees will work from home until further notice, he added.
Meanwhile, Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco underwent swab testing Thursday and is now on quarantine after a nurse assigned at the City Health Office tested positive for the virus.
Zayco decided to be in isolation after the nurse, who was symptomatic, attended their meeting on March 17. He has already directed all participants of the meeting to undergo swab testing and quarantine.
