P12-M worth of heavy equipment burned in Negros town by suspected NPA rebels
BACOLOD CITY -- A total of P12 million worth of heavy equipment were burned by suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) at Purok Magboto, Barangay Cabia-an, Candoni, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Candoni police chief Capt. Ronald Santillan said four personnel of a construction firm were having dinner when at least 10 unidentified armed men arrived at their bunk house.
The personnel were brought to one area and were told to lie on the ground while four armed men allegedly burned a backhoe and a road roller, Santillan said.
Two other armed men also destroyed a grader and another road roller by hitting them with a hard object, Santillan said.
Santillan said the perpetrators then fled, leaving the four personnel unharmed.
Police are looking into extortion as a possible motive in the incident, considering that the firm had reportedly received a threat before in Barangay Gatuslao.
