Mayor Olivarez creates Parañaque's investment promotions office
Parañaque City Mayor Eric L. Olivarez has ordered the creation of a Local Economic Development and Investment Office (LEDIPO) that will help promote economic activities in the city.
In Executive Order No. 2023-20, Series of 2023, Olivarez named Lolita Duria as the head of LEDIPO effective April 13.
Olivarez said the designation of a LEDIPO is in accordance with Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2010-113 dated October 13, 2010 which provides for the designation of a Local Economic and Investment Promotions Officer and renaming it as LEDIPO.
“We hope that, through the designation of Ms. Duria to the post, the City Government shall be able to fulfill its role as a catalyst in creating an enabling environment to attract, retain or expand investments in the City of Parañaque,” Olivarez said.
The mayor said among Duria’s duties are facilitating the preparation, coordination and execution of local economic development policies and investment promotion projects and activities, including conducting trade missions and assisting prospective new investors.
Olivarez said Duria was an official of the local chapter of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has a firm grasp of the needs and requirements of the business and investment community.
He added that the newly designated LEPIDO officer will be working closely with the City Planning and Development Coordinator to identify revenue generating and enterprise development projects of the local government unit.
Parañaque is one of the most economically dynamic cities in the country and plays host to the Entertainment City, a bustling central business district that is home to numerous resort-hotels, shopping malls, entertainment venues and business offices, among others.
