A 68-year-old grandmother and her granddaughter, and a six-year-old boy, died in two separate landslides in Antipolo Friday, according to police.

Antipolo police chief Supt. Dioscoro Maata, identified the victims as Conchita Rosimo and Edralyn Rosimo, 4-year old, of Sitio Tanglaw, San Isidro, and Trix Toledo of Purok Dos, Zone 8, Cupang.

Also injured in the landslide in Sitio Tanglaw was Rose Rosimo, 26, who is eight months pregnant and the mother of Edralin, said police.

Police said the landslide in Sitio Tanglaw occurred at around 12:14 a.m. while the victims were sleeping. The landslide caused by heavy rains buried their house.

Rose was able to get out of their home, a 15-square meter bungalow, as mud, soil, rocks buried it. She was rushed by rescuers to the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center.

A member of the rescue team, Elmer Quintos, said they managed to dig out the two victims almost three hours after the landslide.

Another landslide also occurred in Cupang which killed Toledo, a six-year-old, almost simultaneously as the one in Sitio Tanglaw. Rescuers said Toledo was recovered inside a shanty underneath piles of soil, mud, and a galvanized iron roof at around 1 a.m. Friday.

City Social Welfare and Development Office head, Rowell Macapagal, went to the two landslide areas to attend to the needs of the victims and their families.

The victims were all asleep when the two landslides occurred during heavy rains shortly after midnight Friday.

Mayor Danilo Leyble instructed city officials to provide necessary assistance to the victims and their families.

As this developed, some 79 houses were reportedly washed away in Barangay Silangan, San Mateo Rizal around 4:00 a.m.

The families affected were brought to evacuation center.
