Decreased COVID-19 admissions seen in PCGH

Fewer coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients are being admitted to the Pasay City General Hospital as active cases continue to go down in the city, an official said Monday, May 3.

In a text message to Manila Bulletin, Dr. John Victor de Gracia, PCGH officer-in-charge, said for the past week, the hospital's COVID-19 wards have been at 75 percent capacity.

Just three weeks ago, De Gracia said the hospital was 100 percent full with moderate to severe cases of COVID-19. He added that their emergency room isolation areas were more than 100 percent occupied.

"Today our bed occupancy rate is 71 percent," he said.

From critical, the hospital has gone down to high risk, he added.

If COVID-19 cases would continue to go down, De Gracia said the hospital will further be classified as moderate with 60 to 69 percent occupancy rate.

De Gracia tested positive for COVID-19 on March 26 along with 15 employees of PCGH during the height of the surge of COVID-19 cases in the city.

He said having inoculated helped them and that if it weren't for the vaccine, their condition would have worsened.

Most of the employees have recovered. Currently, there are two new cases with mild symptoms but are under home quarantine.
