Taguig City government gives gratuity pay to temporary workers

The Taguig City government released a gratuity pay of up to P3,000 to all contract of service (COS) and job order (JO) workers for their service during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to the city government, the gratuity pay was based on the length of service of the more than 5,000 temporary workers. 

P1,000 was given to COS and JO workers who served for two to less than three months; P2,000 for those who rendered service for three months, and P3,000 for those who served four months. 

COS and JO workers do not have employee-employer relationships and benefits such as Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), PAG-IBIG, and other incentives. 

“Our COS and JO employees played a huge part in the implementation of our programs, projects, and activities. Lalo na sa kasagsagan ng 2020 kung kailan talagang naging agresibo ang pag-prevent at pag-suppress ng COVID-19 sa lungsod (Especially in 2020 when we became aggressive in preventing and suppressing COVID-19 in the city)," said Mayor Lino Cayetano. 

Cayetano expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all government workers for their effort in making Taguig consistently among the cities with the lowest active cases in the country. 

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has cited Taguig as a “model city” in terms of cooperation, unity, and execution while developing effective programs in combating COVID-19. 

In March, 2020, the city government gave COVID Hazard Pay to all employees who reported for work while the enhanced community quarantine was in full implementation.
