Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso inspected the Luneta Urban Garden’s greenhouse facility at Burnham Green in Rizal Park, underscoring the city’s commitment to advancing urban agriculture and strengthening food security initiatives.

The event was attended by Department of Agriculture (DA) Undersecretary Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Assistant Secretary Elizabeth Lopez De Leon, and DENSO Philippines Corporation President Yuji Torii.

During the walkthrough, Domagoso saw how premium Japanese musk melon is grown using advanced greenhouse technology and automated smart agriculture systems.

The Luneta Urban Garden was relaunched through a partnership among the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI), DENSO Philippines Corporation, and the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC).

The project aims to show that food can be grown even in urban areas through modern and efficient farming methods.

It also highlights how technology can help improve crop quality and increase food production in the city.
