Several major roads in Manila will be temporarily closed to traffic on Sunday, May 17, for a running event that will affect key thoroughfares in the city.
The Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau announced that road closures will take effect at 1 a.m. on the day of the activity.
The following roads will be closed:
— Northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Quirino Avenue to Katigbak Drive and southbound lane from Katigbak Drive to P. Ocampo Avenue
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes during the activity.
Vehicles coming from McArthur and Quezon bridges, intending to use Roxas Boulevard southbound, may take P. Burgos Avenue straight to Taft Avenue.
Those coming from Kalaw Avenue may turn left to M. H. del Pilar Street, while vehicles from Maria Orosa Street and A. Mabini Street may proceed to Kalaw Avenue, then to Taft Avenue.
Motorists from United Nations Avenue may use the Roxas Boulevard service road, while those from Bonifacio Drive may turn around at Anda Circle.
Vehicles coming from Binondo Intramuros may take westbound A. Soriano Avenue, while those from Plaza Cervantes may use the underpass to Escolta or take San Vicente Street to McArthur Bridge.
All trailer trucks and heavy vehicles from Pasay using Roxas Boulevard northbound shall turn right to President Quirino Avenue, while light vehicles may use the Roxas Boulevard service road northbound.
Heavy vehicles from Mel Lopez Boulevard (R 10) bound for Roxas Boulevard shall take Capulong Street, Yuseco Street, and Lacson Avenue.
Authorities said the closing and opening of affected roads will be based on actual traffic conditions on the ground.
