Dasma, Biñan gun for titular showdown

Undefeated Dasma Monarchs and Biñan Tatak Gel Arellano U Lady Chiefs try to sweep their respective foes to set up a finals date in the 2025 Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Alonte Sports Arena in Laguna.
Action kicks off at 4 p.m. with the Monarchs aiming to extend their perfect run into the finals with a sweep of Negros ICC Blue Hawks to the finals as the Lady Chiefs, after a stunning Game 1 win over reigning champion Quezon Tangerines, go for the similar bid at 6 p.m.
Dasma, unbeaten in the elims at 14-0, ran away with a 25-15, 25-15, 25-16 over Negros, while Biñan pulled off a stellar 17-25, 25-21, 15-25, 26-24, 15-13 comeback win against Quezon.
Game 3, if necessary, is set on Friday at the Arellano U campus in Legarda, but Dasma and Biñan want to end the series here and now to arrange a best-of-three finale for the coveted title of the upstart regional volleyball league founded by also MPBL chairman Manny Pacquiao.
Team captain Vange Alinsug will spearhead the way as Dasma, backed by three-time UAAP and four-peat SSL champion NU Lady Bulldogs, strive to extend their dynasty to another league.
Alinsug fired nine points in limited play in Game 1 to backstop Natasha Kaye Bombita, Celine Marsh, Sam Cantada, Alexa Nichole Mata and Minierva Maaya as the Monarchs stamped their class with 11 players scoring.
For Biñan, Laika Tudlasan is the go-to spiker after posting 17 points in their revenge win over Quezon after absorbing a 0-2 sweep in last year’s finals.
Crisanta Servidad and Keisha Alexa Abitria are tipped to provide coverage for Tudlasan as Biñan enjoys a homecourt edge once again for a second straight finals bid in the MPVA backed by Mikasa, Asics, Spurway Enterprise, Gerflor, Smart Communications and XIV Apparel.
But that will not be a walk in the park as Quezon, backed by four-peat NCAA champion College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers, is out to prove its championship pedigree in a do-or-die duel behind Zam Nolasco, Clydel Catarig, Camilla Amor Bartolome and Shekaina Lleses.
Negros, against all odds, eyes the same with Gelah Lopez at the frontline in a bid to stay alive and force a Game 3 in the MPVA organized by the Volleyball Masters of the Philippines.
