PNP strengthens alliance with Aussie police vs cybercrime, organized crime

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has strengthened its alliance with its Australian counterpart in a bid to effectively address the global threats on child exploitation, cybercrime, terrorism, and transnational organized crime.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio. Nartatez, Jr. said they met with the delegation of the Australian government led by Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown and Commander Craig Palmer, Australian Federal Police Commander for Southeast Asia, and Detective Superintendent Brad Marden, Officer/Counsellor of the Australian Federal Police in Manila.
“We discussed ways to enhance our partnership in combating child exploitation, cybercrime, terrorism, and organized criminal activities,” said Nartatez.
“Both the PNP and the Australian Federal Police recognize the importance of intelligence sharing, capacity building, and technology-driven solutions to strengthen our joint operations,” he added.
Nartatez also reaffirmed the friendship and mutual commitment between the Philippines and Australia to uphold the rule of law and maintain peace and order.
He also reiterated the PNP’s readiness to strengthen international partnerships in support of regional stability.
“The Philippine National Police stands ready and committed to collaborate with our international counterparts in addressing transnational threats. We are open to any opportunity for cooperation with international partners,” said Nartatez.
Aside from Nartatez, the PNP delegation was composed of Police Maj. Gen Wilson Joseph F. Lopez, of the Directorate for Intelligence; Police Brig. Gen Bernard R. Yang, of the Anti-Cybercrime Group; Police Brig Gen. Cresenciano A. Landicho, of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management; Police Brig Gen. Maria Sheila T. Portento, of the Women and Children Protection Center; and, Police Col. Roger G. Bilibli, of the Foreign Liaison Division, Directorate for Intelligence.
