The call for assistance is to bring a female patient to a hospital using a police vehicle, the responding cops, however, did not expect that patient is unable to walk and that the house is not accessible to vehicles.
But the personnel from the 1st Mountain Province Provincial Mobile Force Company (MPPMFC) did not mind the steep mountain trail.
In the absence of an ambulance and any vehicle that can make the transportation easy, the policemen, led by Police Executive Master Sergeant Darius Wanawan resorted to the old ways of transporting patients—"Ambulansya de Paa”.
Based on the initial report, the woman is a resident of Sitio Alipudupod, Otucan Norte in Bauko town and was suffering from hypertension and she needed to be taken to the hospital for immediate medical assistance.
Buoyed by the desire to help and probably motivated that they faced more difficult tasks during their training, the policemen concerned decided to carry her for approximately two kilometers along a stairway trail leading to the national road at Sitio Locong.
The patient was later transported onboard a PNP vehicle to Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital for immediate medical attention.
Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., acting chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), lauded the personnel of the 1st Mountain Province Provincial Mobile Force Company for their good deed.
“This is proof of your PNP’s dedication not only to protect but also to serve all our kababayan. Let this story serve as an inspiration to all our personnel that our profession extends beyond ensuring peace and order in communities,” said Nartatez.
