DPWH sends experts to assess damage on collapsed Bukidnon-Davao City road

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has sent teams of experts to conduct assessment on the Bukidnon-Davao City Road which collapsed following a landslide on Saturday, Oct 18.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said motorists were already advised of the immediate temporary closure of the road while the assessment teams are conducting inspections in the affected areas.
“Motorists were already advised to avoid the Bukidnon-Davao City Road, we also provided alternative routes,” said Dizon.
The alternative routes are:
1. From Cagayan de Oro City to Tagum City: Junction Sayre Highway Poblacion Valencia City, Bukidnon via Kapalong - Talaingod - Valencia Road
2. From Camp 1 Maramag, Bukidnon to Davao City: Via Jct.Bukidnon- Davao City Road to Cotabato Boundary - Carmen-Kabacan-Matalam-Kidapawan, Cotabato-Digos City, Davao
The road collapse occurred at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday at the portion of the four-lane road in Sitio Kipolot, Barangay Palacapao, Quezon, Bukidnon. The incident rendered the area inaccessible to all types of vehicles.
Authorities are yet to determine the extent of damage, and Dizon said their immediate response is in line with President Marcos’ directive to ensure complete mobility and inter-province connectivity for motorists and movement of essential goods in the area.
“The Department shall provide a recommendation based on the results of the investigation. We will keep the public posted on updates regarding the repair and rehabilitation works of the Bukidnon-Davao City Road,” said Dizon.
He said police commanders were also instructed to maintain a line of communication to the local government units for any request for assistance.
