The City of Manila officially began the distribution of senior citizen allowances on October 7, kicking off with a cash-out and orientation event for barangay chairmen and treasurers of District 1, held at Don Bosco, Tondo.
Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso addressed the attendees on Tuesday, Oct. 7, delivering a message of healing, unity, and progress under the city's ongoing campaign to “Make Manila Great Again.”
“Umasa kayo, hindi ako gagastos nang walang kapararakan (Rest assured, I will not spend money carelessly),” the mayor assured. “Ang pangarap natin sa pamunuan, maghilom ang suliranin ng pananalapi ng lungsod sa loob ng tatlo hanggang apat na taon (Our goal in leadership is to heal the city’s financial challenges within three to four years).”
The city government has allocated a total of P300 million for the allowances of Manila’s senior citizens, a move he described as a continuation of the administration’s commitment to care for the elderly.
The orientation aimed to guide barangay leaders on proper procedures for distributing the funds efficiently and transparently at the community level.
