A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck off Cebu on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 4, which was an aftershock of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that rattled the province on Sept. 30, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its Earthquake Information No. 1, the agency said the tremor occurred at 5:06 p.m.
Phivolcs said its epicenter was located 19 kilometers southwest of Bogo City, Cebu.
The quake had a shallow depth of 10 kilometers and was tectonic in origin, it added.
“This is an aftershock of the 2025 September 30 Mw6.9 Offshore Northern Cebu earthquake event,” Phivolcs noted.
The state seismology agency said no damage and aftershocks are expected from the magnitude 4.5 quake.
The Sept. 30 quake, which registered magnitude 6.9, caused strong shaking across Cebu, Leyte, and nearby provinces, leaving residents wary of aftershocks in the following days.
