Muntinlupa Mayor Biazon says NSCR-EX Project to ease traffic
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the North–South Commuter Railway Extension (NSCR-EX) Project will ease travel and traffic in the city.
Biazon recently attended the clearing of the old Philippine National Railways (PNR) Alabang Station to give way to the NSCR-EX Project.
“Papalapit na ang mass transit system na matagal na nating inaabangan—mas mabilis na byahe papasok at palabas ng Muntinlupa, bawas-trapiko sa kalsada, at dagdag opportunities para sa negosyo at investments dito sa ating lungsod (The long-awaited mass transit system is coming soon—faster travel in and out of Muntinlupa, less traffic on the roads, and more opportunities for businesses and investments in our city),” Biazon posted on Facebook on Sept. 23.
He added, “Exciting din dahil kasama rito ang Airport Express route na magkokonekta mula Alabang diretso sa Clark Airport. Malaking ginhawa ito para sa mga biyahero at dagdag boost din sa ating ekonomiya (It’s also exciting because it includes the Airport Express route that will connect from Alabang directly to Clark Airport. This will be a great convenience for travelers and also an added boost to our economy).”
He thanked the Department of Transportation for the coordination and continued support to Muntinlupa residents.
The NSCR-EX Project is composed of the NSCR Clark Extension Project, or the Malolos-Clark Railway Project (MCRP) and the NSCR Calamba Extension Project, or the North South Railway Project–South Line Commuter (NSRP-SC), according to the 2021 Environmental Monitoring Report.
A Resettlement Plan report in 2022 stated that the “The Solis-Blumentritt-Calamba section of NSCR-Ex covers a 55.7-km line commencing from Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Manila to Calamba station in Laguna, including the 1.1 km Manila PO section and an additional 1.3 km spur line to the Banlic depot in Calamba."
It will “have 19 stations passing through the cities of Manila, Makati, Taguig, Parañaque and Muntinlupa in the NCR and, the cities of San Pedro, Biñan, Sta. Rosa, Cabuyao and Calamba, in the Province of Laguna.”
