Police arrested two men for selling an illegal firearm during a buy-bust operation in Taguig City on July 28.
Joint operatives from the Southern Police District, District Mobile Force Battalion and Taguig police conducted the entrapment operation beside a fast food restaurant C5 Road in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig.
The operation was conducted after the police received a tip from an informant about the illegal firearm transactions involving alias Rak Amyel and his group, believed to be operating in Quezon City, Taguig and other areas.
The operatives arrested alias Von, 38, and alias Joseph, 29. One alias Rak Amyel evaded arrest after failing to appear during the scheduled transaction.
Seized from the suspects were a 9mm Jericho 941 pistol, three 9mm magazines, and nine rounds of live 9mm ammunition. The firearm and accessories were concealed in a red container recovered at the scene.
Police also confiscated a genuine P,000 bill used as marked money, which was placed on top of several boodle bills, along with two mobile phones, a driver’s license and a car.
The two suspects failed to present any document authorizing them to possess and sell the firearm.
They will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Authorities are conducting further investigation to locate Rak Amyel and determine the extent of the group’s involvement in the illegal firearms trade in Metro Manila.
