Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidate Benhur Abalos says he is leaving it up to authorities to take action on reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos' allegation of fraud in the just-concluded 2025 mid-term elections.

"This is the first time we’ve heard of the allegation. I will leave it to the proper authorities to assess and respond to the allegation, if warranted," Abalos, the former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary, said in a statement Monday night, May 12.

Abalos was reacting to Senator Marcos' claim that certain automated counting machines (ACMs) used by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the polls reflected votes for Abalos, even if the Abalos' number wasn't shaded on the ballot.

The lady solon cited alleged "programmed machines" for this supposed anomaly.

Senator Marcos used to be part of the administration-backed Alyansa, but walked away from the group in mid-March following the arrest and turnover of former president Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

At any rate, Abalos said that he enjoyed "real momentum" before polling precincts opened on Monday.

"As for our campaign, the surge we’re seeing—reflected in the SWS (Social Weather Stations), where we saw a 6-percent increase from April, and other surveys—is the result of hard work, honest engagement, and a clear vision," he said.

"Even in surveys where we previously didn’t place, we are now 'at striking distance [from the top 12]', showing our growing momentum," noted the administration bet.

"This momentum is real. This movement is growing. And we are prepared to carry the trust of the Filipino people all the way to the Senate," Abalos said.

He also boasted of his endorsements coming from personalities and groups like Vice President Leni Robredo, Senate President Drilon, ULAP, Liga ng mga Barangay, LCP, JIL Church, Vice Ganda, MOWELFUND Chair Boots Anson-Roa, and Ai Ai delas Alas, just to name a few.
