Fire hits tanker truck, aluminum van


CAMP VICENTE LIM, Canlubang, Laguna – A tanker truck and an aluminum van caught on fire in Batangas and Quezon on Wednesday, September 27.

The Police Regional Office 4-A said the tanker truck loaded with coconut oil was traveling on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) at the highway boundary of Barangay Santa Anastacia, Santo Tomas City, Batangas, and Barangay Makiling, Calamba City, Laguna when the vehicle caught fire.

The Santo Tomas and Calamba Fire Stations responded at 5:45 a.m. and declared fire out at 6:55 a.m.

No casualty was reported in the fire. Cause and estimated damage are yet to be determined.

The aluminum van with license plates CAY-3276 driven by Danilo Pasol, 52, of Parañaque City, caught fire on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Isidro, Atimonan, Quezon at around 4 p.m.

The vehicle was loaded with assorted water supply equipment and bound for Bicol when the fire happened.

Pasol told police he noticed that the left rear portion of the truck was on fire. It was immediately put out.

Fire Officer 3 Ronald Layugan, arson investigator, said cause of the fire was electrical wiring.
