American nabbed for allegedly running a business without permit


An American national has been apprehended by Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents in Poblacion, Makati City, for allegedly operating a business without a work permit.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco explained that a foreigner's involvement in gainful employment without the necessary work permit is a violation of Philippine immigration laws.

Tansingco saidthe American, whose name was withheld, presented himself as the chief executive officer of a Manila-based company and the owner of several restaurants.

He was then taken to the BI detention facility in Taguig City and will undergo deportation proceedings.
