Fire razes cargo ship in Sorsogon port


LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – A fire hit a cargo vessel docked at the port of Castilla in Sorsogon on All Souls’ Day.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said MV Ken was hit by the fire at around 11 a.m. in the vicinity waters of the Castilla anchorage area in Barangay Poblacion.

MV Ken is owned by Pherwin Shipping Corp. based in Milaor, Camarines Sur.

Joint and rescue operations are  being conducted by the Philippine Navy and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) as of posting time.

Navy craft BRP Federico Martir (PC-385) is  conducting firefighting together with the crew of MV Ken and MV Anabelle.

No casualties or missing persons have been reported.
