In celebration of Civil Registration Month, the Makati City local government will be offering free certified true copies of legal documents such as birth, marriage, and death certificates, to its citizens this month.
In a Facebook advisory, the city government said residents may avail of the free certified true copy of their birth, marriage, death certificate, or certificate of no record from the City Civil Registration Office (CCRO) from Feb. 22 to 24, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Interested Makatizens should bring a valid government-issued ID. In case the document owner is unable to come in person, an authorization letter and photocopies the IDs of the document owner and representative are required.
The requested document will be released after three working days.
The city government said the CCRO is located on the 3rd floor of Makati City Hall Building I.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) spearheaded the kick-off for the 33rd Civil Registration Month celebration on Feb. 1 with this year's theme “PSA @ 10: Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation".
The Civil Registration Month is celebrated in February of every year pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 signed by former President Corazon Aquino on Jan. 28, 1991.
The annual celebration aims to remind Filipinos of their duty to register acts and events concerning the status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical values of civil registry documents.
