Former President Estrada's condition improves, slowly being weaned off ventilator

Former President Joseph Estrada's condition continues to improve and is close to being removed from mechanical ventilation after suffering from pneumonia due to COVID-19, his son, Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada announced on Friday, April 9.

"We are happy to report that my father seems to be responding well to treatment as his condition has steadily improved." Jinggoy said in his Facebook account.

"Doctors are now starting to slowly wean him off ventilator support,” he added.

Jinggoy said his father's organ functions remain stable and asked for prayers for the former president's complete recovery

Former President Estrada was rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City last March 28 after he experienced weakness. He tested positive for COVID-19.

Estrada was brought to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on April 5 and was put on mechanical ventilation a day after.
