
A Pulse Asia survey conducted from Feb. 20 to 26 revealed that 45 percent of Filipino voters disagree with the House of Representatives’ decision to file an impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte in the Senate.
Meanwhile, 26 percent of respondents support the filing, 23 percent expressed ambivalence, and 7 percent are unsure due to a lack of knowledge.
In Mindanao, 88 percent of respondents oppose the impeachment, while 46 percent of voters in the Visayas share the same sentiment.
Opposition to the filing is also strong across socio-economic classes, with disapproval ranging from 43 to 56 percent.
Meanwhile, in Metro Manila, 33 percent of voters disagree with the impeachment filing, while 45 percent support it.
In the rest of Luzon, 34 percent of respondents agree with the House’s action, while another 34 percent are undecided.
Regarding the Senate’s role in the impeachment case, 35 percent of Filipinos believe the Senate will not be fair in handling the case, while 33 percent are undecided.
Only 21 percent trust the Senate to be impartial, and 11 percent have no opinion due to insufficient knowledge.
In Mindanao, 66 percent of respondents think the Senate will not be fair, while 40 percent of Metro Manila residents believe otherwise.
In Luzon, 40 percent are unsure about the Senate's impartiality.
Meanwhile, in the Visayas and across socioeconomic classes, opinions are divided—either believe the Senate will not be fair or are ambivalent on the matter (33 percent to 38 percent versus 32 percent to 42 percent).
