San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang’s firstborn John Paul L. Ang has been appointed director of Ginebra San Miguel Inc. due to the vacancy left by Francisco S. Alejo III, who resigned last Jan. 31, 2025.
Ang is currently a director and the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SMC (June 11, 2024 to present) and holds directorships in other listed companies, namely, Petron Corporation, San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc. (SMFB), and Top Frontier Investment Holdings Inc.

Ginebra disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) that he is also the President and CEO of Eagle Cement Corporation (2008 to present), SMFB (June 5, 2024 to present), Southern Concrete Industries Inc. (May 28, 2024 to present), and South Western Cement Corporation (2017 to present).
Ang is the President of San Miguel Equity Investments Inc. (Dec. 7, 2023 to present) and also the Vice Chairman of San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corp. since 2021.
He is also a director of several companies such as SMC SLEX Inc., Aerofuel Storage Management Inc., Argonbay Construction Company Inc., San Miguel Aerocity Inc., and KB Space Holdings Inc., among others.
Ang graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts Major in Interdisciplinary Studies at the Ateneo de Manila University.
SMFB replaced Alejo as COO with Emmanuel B. Macalalag effective Feb. 5, 2025, due to parent company SMC’s management reorganization.
This comes after SMFB subsidiary Ginebra disclosed to the PSE that Alejo has resigned as director and member of the audit and risk oversight committee and the executive committee effective Jan. 31, 2025, due to “personal reasons.”
Also replaced under the management reorganization is SMFB Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and Chief Strategy Officer Ildefonso B. Alindogan, with the elder Ang’s daughter Monica L. Ang-Mercado taking over as CFO effective immediately.
Alejo has held the position of SMFB president since May 20, 2005. He has been a director of the company since May 22, 2001, and a member of the company’s executive committee since April 25, 2002.
Macalalag, on other hand, was the COO for spirits of SMFB ang general manager of Ginebra San Miguel. He recently resigned as senior vice president of Ginebra to take his position with SMFB.
The daughter of the SMC Chairman and CEO, Ang-Mercado is a director of the SMC board and is currently the chairman at Buildnet Construction Inc.; director at Premier Capital Venture Corporation; director at Q-Tech Alliance Holdings Inc.; COO, treasurer and director at Eagle Cement; director at KB Space Holdings; director at A5 Wagyu Inc.; director at SMFB; treasurer and director at Solid North Mineral Corporation; and CFO and treasurer at South Western Cement.
