
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that 25 areas across the country may experience a “danger” level heat index of 42 degrees Celsius (°C) or higher on Monday, April 14.
Based on its forecast, PAGASA said Pasay City, Metro Manila; Echague, Isabela; and Cavite City, Cavite may record the day’s highest heat index at 44°C.
Other areas expected to experience heat indices between 42°C and 43°C include Dagupan City in Pangasinan; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Olongapo City, Zambales; San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Tanauan, Batangas; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte; Baler, Aurora; Iba, Zambales; Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Camiling, Tarlac; Tarlac City, Tarlac; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Cuyo, Palawan; Virac, Catanduanes; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Dumangas, Iloilo; La Carlota, Negros Occidental; Catarman, Northern Samar; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur; General Santos City, South Cotabato; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
PAGASA classifies heat indices between 42°C and 51°C as dangerous.
At this level, people are at increased risk of heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Prolonged exposure to such conditions could lead to heatstroke.
