The city will distribute P5 million to each barangay, said Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia.

Garcia emphasized that the financial assistance will only be released to barangays that have complied with the requirements.

“I am encouraging the barangays to speed up the compliance of the requirements because this is a big help for the implementation of their projects,” said Garcia.

The two major requirements are project proposals and utilization report of the barangay’s last subsidy, Garcia said.

“The requirements are just simple. We made it easy for them,” Garcia said.

Garcia assured that once all documents are completed, a barangay will immediately receive a check for P5 million.

So far, Garcia said only 20 barangays have complied with all the requirements.

The list of qualified barangays was expected to be finalized on Monday, March 17.

Garcia reminded barangay officials that the deadline for the submission of requirements will be on March 28.

“I have to set a cut-off date because if they can’t submit all the documents, we cannot give the check because this is subject to the guidelines of the Commission on Audit,” Garcia said.

Garcia said the city has allocated P400 million in financial assistance.
