The Emirates flight with the official landed in Amsterdam at 9:27 p.m. local time (4:27 a.m. in Manila).

"Upon her arrival, VP Duterte was met with assistance from the Dutch Foreign Ministry and the Dutch Royal Military Constabulary," the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said in a media advisory.

The official is expected to proceed directly to The Hague, an hour from Amsterdam.

Her office said Duterte is scheduled to "attend a series of meetings" with lawyers while "waiting for the time to visit her father" on Thursday.

She is then expected to address questions from the press “once she has settled in at The Hague” on March 14.

The Office of the President (OP) issued a travel authority to Duterte for her travel to the Netherlands, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said.

“The Office of the President issued a travel authority to VP Sara as of last night 8 p.m.,” it said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

“PCO was not immediately updated as the information was initially disclosed only to limited people due to the unusual urgency and the confidentiality of the document,” it added.

In a statement posted on her Facebook page, the Vice President thanked Filipinos working at the Dubai International Airport and the Al Maktoum International Airport for helping her and the former president when they had a stopover there.

“Maraming salamat din sa lahat ng mga Pilipinong nagpaabot ng mga mensahe, suporta, at panalangin para kay PRRD, sa akin, at sa aming buong pamilya na ngayon ay nahaharap sa matinding pagsubok sa pulitika (Thank you also to all Filipinos who send their messages, support, and prayers for PRRD, for me, and for our whole family who is now facing a tough political challenge),” she wrote.

Her father, the former president, was arrested under an ICC warrant on charges of crimes against humanity of murder for allegedly orchestrating his administration’s bloody war on drugs.

Based on records by various human rights groups, the extrajudicial killings executed under the war on drugs campaign of the Duterte administration led to the deaths of more than 20,000 mostly poor Filipinos.

The elder Duterte is currently under ICC custody after the chartered plane that took him there landed in Rotterdam, Netherlands at around 11:56 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12 (Manila time).

The Philippine Embassy in Netherlands assured that the former president was given consular assistance, including winter clothing and care packages, and his medical condition was endorsed to ICC officials and Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.
