The concept behind After Laughter invites us into the liminal space between joy and introspection, where the echoes of laughter give way to contemplation. Artists Markus Jentes and Bea Policarpio explore the paradox of experience—the tension between lightness and weight, order and chaos, past and future. In this collection, they embrace duality as both a challenge and a source of inspiration, weaving irony, resilience, and raw emotion into their work.

Jentes’ paintings balance expressionism with geometry, a fusion of instinct and precision that reflects his evolving perspective. A horizon line cuts through many of his pieces—a symbol of division and connection, of choice and transformation. His process embraces surrender, allowing forms to emerge organically, shaping a visual language that speaks to contrast and clarity.

Policarpio’s works are equally attuned to contrast, blending structure with fluidity. Describing her vibrant artworks as ‘flashes of clarity,’ she captures the harmony in opposites—motion and stillness, intensity and detachment. Rooted in her love for music, each painting is QR-linked to a song that inspired it, drawing viewers into a sensory experience.

Together, their works remind us that between every high and low, there is a moment of stillness—where meaning lingers, and art begins. It is in these quiet spaces, these transitional states, that we find ourselves.
