Mayor Along warns senior citizens vs fake social pension pay out locations

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan has warned senior citizens to be cautious of fake social pension pay out locations and individuals posing as city government employees.

In a Facebook post, Malapitan revealed that some scammers have been calling seniors, falsely instructing them to claim their social pension at the City Hall or other unauthorized locations.

“Mga lolo at lola ko sa Caloocan, mag-ingat po kayo sa mga tumatawag sa inyo at nagpapakilala bilang empleyado ng pamahalaang lungsod, partikular na ng Office of Senior Citizen Affairs Office o OSCA (My dear grandparents in Caloocan, please be cautious of callers pretending to be employees of the city government, especially from the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA)),” he said.

The mayor emphasized that official pay outs are only conducted in designated venues near barangays and not in city government offices.

He also advised the seniors to verify announcements through his Facebook page or the official OSCA page.

Malapitan also reminded residents that all OSCA transactions are free of charge and urged them to be wary of anyone demanding payment.

“Mag-iingat po kayo sa mga mapagsamantala. Ngayong nalalapit na ang eleksyon, tiyak na darami ang mga manggugulo at magdudulot ng kalituhan sa mga mamamayan (Beware of scammers. As the election approaches, more people may try to create confusion and take advantage of our citizens),” he said.

For inquiries, senior citizens may contact 8288-8811 local 2258 or visit OSCA at the ground floor of Caloocan City Hall.
