After a succession of birthday parties tendered in his honor, hosted by his best of friends, Dioceldo Sy thought that the night of his actual birthday would be spent in relative peace, with just the immediate family. But Christine Codrington had other things in mind. So working behind his back, Christine had gathered friends and family to ‘invade’ their ‘intimate’ booking at Sage, Shang Makati. So yes, it was a genuine surprised Dioceldo who discovered that the whole of Sage was filled with his well-wishers.
And maybe he’ll have to think twice about just how ‘well’. Brother Silliman had arranged for some friends to roast our birthday boy. This included Robina Gokongwei (back after the Tuesday party hosted by Emil Yap), Herbert Sy, and this writer. Robina roasted him on his sharpshooting prowess - for turning grandfather and father in the course of a single year. And jokes were made regarding Dioceldo's steadfast belief that ‘Go forth and multiply’ was the 11th commandment.
