The Philippine National Police (PNP) is preparing a full honor ceremony for Police Col. Pergentino Malabed who was among those who died after a military helicopter collided midair with a commercial plane in the United States last month.
PNP chief information officer Col. Randulf Tuaño said they expect the arrival of the remains of Malabed in the Philippines on Feb. 20, saying the information came from his wife.
Malabed’s wife left for the United States early this month to identify the cadaver as part of the investigation protocol.
“It was supposed to be Feb. 21 but his wife sent a message that they will arrive at 7:45 a.m. on Feb. 20,” said Tuaño.
“Officially, the remains will be brought here (Camp Crame in Quezon City) for a ceremony to honor him,” he added.
Tuaño said the activities will start on Feb 27, the day Malabed’s remains will be taken to Camp Crame for viewing and for the ceremony.
A member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1998, Malabed was on official travel in the United States as chief of the Supply Management Division, particularly in the inspection of armored vests for the PNP.
