The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Cybercrime Investigation Coordinating Center (CICC) have joined forces in a bid to combat cybercrime, especially those linked to nationwide illegal drug transactions.
PDEA officer-in-charge (OIC) Renato A. Gumban said the agreement will lead to the regular updating of the PDEA's operation on matters pertaining to the emerging technologies.
The collaboration allows both agencies to share critical information, resources and expertise to better prevent and address cybercrimes.
“The signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) marks a significant step in strengthening inter-agency cooperation against cybercriminals exploiting technology,’’ Gumban said.
He also commended the parties involved in drafting the agreement as he underscored the importance in equipping both agencies with the tools needed to combat evolving cyber threats.
For his part, CICC head Undersecretary Alexander K. Ramos said the agreement is essential in safeguarding the Filipino people against illegal drugs.
