The Thai spikers lost their steam after squandering a 2-0 lead, but managed to regain their rhythm in the fifth set where they unleashed a 6-1 blast that ultimately sealed the deal for the visitors.

Despite the loss and a 1-1 tally at second spot of Pool D, PLDT still secured its spot in the quarterfinals where it faces the streaking Zhetysu VC of Kazakhstan Thursday, April 24, at the same venue.

Meanwhile, Nakhon, which claimed the top seed in its group, tangles with the Creamline Cool Smashers on the same day.

Anyse Smith starred once again for the Thai league’s six-time champion with 16 points on 13 attacks, two blocks and one ace, while Evangelia Chantava listed 11 points.

Savannah Davison poured in 21 points off 18 kills, two blocks and one ace while veteran Cuban hitter Wilma Salas added 16. Kim Dy led the Filipina aces with 10 which all went down the drain.
