NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago said "the reclassification of the agents will provide more quality service to the Filipino people, improve their performance in the solution of crime, and raise the bar of competency in the field of law enforcement."

Santiago said the salary grade of the new investigations agents will be Salary Grade 22, higher than the Salary Grade 18 they used to receive.

Not only higher salaries, Santiago said that under Section 3 of Republic Act No. 10867, the NBI Reorganization and Modernization Act, the bureau the reclassification is retroactive to July 1, 2024 and, thus, the agents will receive back wages.

He noted that the persons reclassified were those who have been serving the bureau  “with pride and honor for the longest time.”

”Under the NBI Modernization law, once an SI retires, the item shall be considered dissolved,” he lamented.

“That’s the reason why I requested and pleaded that these SIs be reclassified to Agent III, and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Civil Service Commission (CSC) approved the request,” he said.
