A 59-year-old man sustained first-degree burns during a fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Tejeros, Makati City on Wednesday afternoon, March 19.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire started at houses along Adora Street at 3 p.m. Due to light materials, the fire quickly escalated to the second alarm at 3:08 p.m.
Authorities said that around 10 houses were damaged by the fire, displacing about 45 families.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out at around 4:40 p.m.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Makati Department of Social Welfare immediately went to the area to verify the number of affected families and provide initial assistance.
The affected families are currently staying at the barangay's covered court.
Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire and the amount of damage to property.
