Fire razes junk shop in Taguig


A junk shop was razed by a fire that lasted for more than six hours in Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig on March 17. 

The fire started at about 2:10 a.m. at the Portacio Scrap Trading at No. 129 Purok 1-A MRT Ave.

The Taguig City Fire Station raised the first alarm at 2:15 a.m. The blaze reached the third alarm at 2:41 a.m. before it was put out at 8:48 a.m.

The fire station said the fire damaged P3 million worth of properties and affected one family with about five members. 

Authorities said the fire started from the right side portion of the junk shop but the cause is under investigation. 

A total of 18 fire trucks, a rescue truck, trucks from 12 volunteer groups and local government units, and six ambulances responded to the incident.
