The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, March 16 said the northeast monsoon and easterlies will be the dominant weather systems that will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains across the country.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will bring cloudy skies with light rains to Batanes and Babuyan Islands over the next 24 hours.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the amihan will also affect Ilocos Norte.
He also noted that the effects of the amihan may persist and spread to more areas in Luzon through mid-week.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms across Northern Samar, Albay, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Estareja added that there are no low-pressure areas or tropical cyclones expected to affect the country until the end of the week.
