A 33-year-old ride-hailing service rider died after being run over by a dump truck when he lost control of his motorcycle after hitting a car in Ermita, Manila, on Thursday, March 6.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the victim as Archie Agustines, a native of Zamboanga Del Sur.
According to the initial investigation, Agustines was traveling southbound on Roxas Boulevard around 5:48 p.m. When he reached the corner of Remedios Street, the front of his motorcycle hit the right rear side of a Toyota Avanza driven by a Grab driver, who was also traveling in the same direction.
The collision caused Agustines to lose control of his motorcycle and fall to the ground.
As he fell, a dump truck on the outer lane and moving in the same direction, ran over him with its right front wheel.
Due to the impact, authorities said the motorcycle rider sustained injuries that resulted in his immediate death.
Authorities said the incident is still under investigation, and charges against the truck driver will be referred to the Manila Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings.
