Veteran comedian Matutina passes away at 78

Evelyn Bontogon-Guerrero, known popularly as Matutina, has passed away.

She was 78.

Her passing was confirmed by her daughter Shiela Guerrero via Facebook, who shared her mother's medical certificate which indicates Acute Respiratory Failure due to Volume Fluid Overload as immediate cause of death, with an antecedent cause of Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease due to Hypertensive Nephrosclerosis.

Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease was written as the underlying cause of death.

Born on July 10, 1946, Matutina started her showbiz career as a radio talent before becoming a household name through the TV sitcom "John en Marsha" which aired from 1973-1978 and 1980-1990.

There, she played the role of Matutina, the trusted maid of the ultra-wealthy Doña Delilah G. Jones.

She also starred in several TV series and films, including "At Your Service, Matutina," "Ang Inyong Lingkod Matutina," "Dancing Master 2," and "Kapag Baboy Ang Inutang."
