A former security guard who claimed to be a policeman attacked motorcycle riders in Divisoria Market, Manila, allegedly due to loud horn-honking.
The suspect reportedly punched one rider and repeatedly knocked over a motorcycle, creating a scene that escalated quickly.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said that the altercation began when the suspect became frustrated with the honking of the horns of a motorcycle and a jeepney nearby.
The suspect also pushed a motorcycle that was parked at the side of the road.
When the police arrived to manage the situation, the suspect attempted to grab an officer’s gun.
Despite the authorities' efforts to arrest him, the suspect remained aggressive and even punched a policeman on the face.
This led to an altercation between the suspect and other motorists who had previously been attacked.
Even after he was arrested the suspect remained aggressive. He reportedly told the police that they were not legitimate law enforcers and threatened to spit on them.
The suspect is facing multiple charges, including alarm and scandal, resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, usurpation of authority, and direct assault.
