A total of P6.1 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants were burned by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents in two-day eradication operation in Kibungan, Benguet this week.
In a statement, the PDEA noted that the marijuana plants were discovered in several lands in Barangay Tacadang spanning a total area of more or less 3,850 square meters.
During the operation from Jan. 27 to 28, the PDEA agents uprooted approximately 6,800 fully-grown marijuana plants valued at P1,360,000 in the first site.
This was followed by the discovery of a second plantation site where 24,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants worth P4,800,000 were burned.
The PDEA agents torched all the marijuana plants ‘on-site’ in the two areas but not a single cultivator was arrested during the operation.
