US-based singer and producer Garth Garcia is set to headline his birthday concert on Jan. 31, which will be staged to benefit the  Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation, whose members have been fighting the wildfires in southern California. The venue will be Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on Wilshire Boulevard, LA.

It was supposed to be an ordinary birthday show for Garth, but he decided to do it for a cause, given the natural disaster that struck his hometown of LA. The former "Star in a Million" finalist has called California his home with his wife, a Filipina nurse, and their two sons for about eight years.

In a short period, Garth has emerged as one of the more active figures in the Filipino-American community. Besides managing a healthcare company with his wife, Shine, he's also the CEO of his entertainment production house, Starlink Promotions. He has produced shows for Jaya, Nina, Lani Misalucha, Jay-R, and other US-based artists, plus the Broadway musical "Here Lies Love.".

"Ang dream ko talaga ma-produce is a show for (National Artist) Sir Ryan Cayabyab. Right now, we, the Filipino-American artists, are planning to give him a tribute," Garth revealed during his last visit to Manila, where he held a sold-out pre-birthday concert at Aromata Bar & Restaurant with special guests Jed Madela, Thor Dulay, 4th Impact, Blanktape, Wize Estabillo and other friends in the industry.

Garth pointed out that he's just as happy to perform in a small bar like Aromata because he's already had his fill of bigger venues.

"I did my dream concert two years ago at LA's Zipper Hall when I had my birthday show there. Dream ko yun kasi iconic ang venue. It's hard to book there and expensive, but the sound was the best," he remarked.

Garth doesn't forget to pay it forward, whether it's to his talents or the community where he often conducts charity projects. And after doing many back-to-back shows last year, both in the Philippines and the US, the talented singer hopes for a less busy 2025.

"2024 was the year I had so many shows. It seems that they flew me out of LA all weekend," he recalled. This wasn't counting his solo concert at the Music Museum and two other shows in Davao. "For 2025, I hope to rest more. Siguro, this time, it's more relaxing and fun."

While promising to be less of a workaholic, Garth expressed excitement at being part of another project this year. "I am co-producing a movie right now with Soliloquy Productions. It's called 'No Room For Love' and this will feature Filipino-American actors. The plot is about a Fil-Am family crammed in a small LA apartment. We're excited because the first episode will premiere at the Indie Vegas Filmfest this April, so watch out for it!" he revealed.
