Pedicab driver shot dead in Silay City


BACOLOD CITY – A 33-year-old pedicab driver was gunned down and his younger brother was wounded by a lone gunman in Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Police Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay police chief, identified the fatality as Mark Britanico.

Injured was Britanico’s brother Paul, 28, also a pedicab driver.

Investigation disclosed that the victims were having a drinking session when the suspect arrived and shot them.

Mark died from bullet wounds in the head and Paul was wounded in the back and taken to a hospital.

Police recovered five fired cartridges and four live .45 caliber bullets in the crime scene. 

A follow-up investigation is underway.
