NBI concludes probe on 'death threat' aired by VP Duterte vs Pres Marcos, First Lady, House Speaker

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has finished its probe on the reported threat aired by Vice President Sara Duterte to kill President Marcos, First Lady Liza  Araneta Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

“We were just advised last week that they have finished it,” said Prosecutor General Richard Anthony D. Fadullon during a press briefing in Malacanang.

However, Fadullon said “there is a need to further evaluate it.”

Thus, he said, “we are sending prosecutors over to look at the evidence and evaluate the evidence that is in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation.”

“Depending on the outcome, we will be able make a recommendation whether to have it considered filed already before the department and/or to return it to the NBI if there is a need to build-up the case further and to add to the evidence they already have,” he said.

So far, Fadullon said “we do not have the exact details yet of the results of the investigation with the NBI.”

He pointed out that the details would include information on whether investigators found who Duterte contacted to do the killings.

The NBI investigated Duterte over possible grave threats under Art. 282 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) and for violating Section. 6 of Republic Act (RA) 10175 or the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.

The issue stemmed from a press conference Duterte held last November where she stated that she already ordered the killing of the President, the First Lady, and the House Speaker in the event she dies.
