In a triumph for Philippine craft beer, Elias Wicked Ales and Spirits has emerged as one of the standout winners at the 2024 Asia Beer Championship, held in Singapore. The brewery secured the prestigious Lallemand Brewing Champion Small-Sized Brewery of Asia title, along with a slew of medals—five golds, one silver, and five bronzes—cementing its status as a leading force in the Asian beer scene. Among their accolades, Elias Wicked Ales was also named the Philippines' Country Champion for the third year in a row.

The event drew over 800 beer entries from 13 countries, judged by a panel of internationally trained brewers. Elias’ stellar performance was further emphasized by its diversity of winning entries. Notable highlights included the Puto Bumbong Stout ++, which earned a gold in the Experimental Beer category. This holiday-themed stout, made in collaboration with Crema & Crème Coffee Lab, blends coffee, chocolate, and ube.

Co-founder and brewer Raoul Masangcay, a certified cicerone in the Philippines, expressed his excitement over the victories. "This is a testament to our team’s unwavering passion and dedication. Despite the challenges of brewing in the Philippines, we have continued to push boundaries, perfect our craft, and deliver world-class beer,” said Raoul in a press statement. A cicerone is to beer what a sommelier is to wine—an expert who has been rigorously trained in the art of beer tasting, brewing, and food pairing.

Other gold winners included Le Petit Mango in the No/Low-Alcohol Beer category and Blends with Benefits, a tea-infused beer created with Jacob’s Well Chai, which triumphed in the Tea Beer category. Summer Breeze Saison, a Belgian-inspired beer with flavors of bubblegum and orange, won in the Saison.
