PSU student’s BF arrested for alleged involvement in murder


LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Police arrested on Wednesday, September 25, the boyfriend of a Pangasinan State University student for his alleged involvement in her murder here early this week.

Police Col. Jeff Fenged, Pangasinan police chief, identified the suspect as Reynald Clave Caracas, 21, a fourth year PSU-Lingayen industrial technology student and resident of Barangay Toritori, Anda, Pangasinan.

Fanged said the suspect was apprehended by a Special Investigation Task Group he immediately created to solve the killing of Evalend Cervera Salting, 21, a third year PSU-Lingayen Business Administration student.

Police said John Karlo Salvador Ramos, 35, of Barangay Poblacion, this town, discovered the victim’s body while he and his family were walking in the area on Tuesday night.

She was reported missing on Monday night, September 23.

Investigators said the victim had a visible head wound subject to confirmation.

The PSU-Lingayen condemned the killing of Salting in its official Facebook page.

Police are preparing the filing of a case against the suspect before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor here.
