Missing college student in Pangasinan found dead


LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – A missing Pangasinan State University student was found dead on Baywalk in Barangay Poblacion here on Tuesday, September 24.

Police identified the victim as Evalend Cervera Salting, a third year BS Business Administration student of the PSU-Lingayen.

Salting was last seen near PSU-Lingayen walking towards a popular convenience store on Monday, September 23 and was reported missing since 7 p.m. that day.

Police said John Karlo Salvador Ramos, 35, of Barangay Poblacion, this town, discovered the victim’s body while he and his family were walking in the area on Tuesday night.

The PSU-Lingayen condemned the killing of Salting in its official Facebook page.

"We are devastated to confirm the loss of one of our students, Evalend C. Salting, 3rd Year BS Business Administration, whose life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence.”

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family, friends, and loved ones of the victim during this incredibly difficult time, it said.

“This senseless act of violence is not only a loss to the victim's family and friends but to the entire PSU Lingayen Community. We condemn this act in the strongest possible terms and are committed to ensuring that justice is served."

FORENSICS probers look for clues that could shed light on the murder of Salting.   

Due to incident, the PSU said they are enhancing measures on the safety and security of students.

"We will work closely with local law enforcement to support their investigation and to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future."

Police are conducting follow-up investigation. The victim's family and friends have sought justice for the victim.
