These are but some of the star-starry offerings of  “Sinesigla sa Singkwenta,” a series of events celebrating the  legacy of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in celebration of its 50th anniversary this year.

The omnibus mural that pays tribute to the festival’s rich history, was unveiled Sept. 19 on a wall of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) offices facing EDSA.

It features 16 actors and actresses who have impacted heavily on the annual December film fest throughout five decades starting in 1975. Among them, Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Fernando Poe Jr., Dolphy, Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto, Eddie Garcia.

The centerpiece mural was painted by AG Sano and Sim Tolentino of Art Atak.

The series of murals, done in collaboration with iAcademy students, will be installed along EDSA in the coming days.

MMDA Acting Chairman Attorney Don Artes said, “We are not only looking back at our history but also charting the future of Philippine cinema.”

Artes stated that the 50 movies selected to rescreen were based on their availability, awards garnered at the MMFF, and bankability.

The event was attended by representatives of the Actor’s Guild of the Philippines (AKTOR), the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), MOWELFUND, and the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP).
