RTC orders detention of Quiboloy, 4 co-accused at Quezon City jail

The Quezon City regional trial cout (RTC) has ordered the detention of  Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo C. Quiboloy and his co-accused at the Quezon City jail.

Judge Noel L. Parel of RTC Branch 106 issued the Sept. 9, 2024 order that directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) “to transfer and commit the two accused Apollo C. Quiboloy and Cresente Canada to the New Quezon City Jail - Payatas Road, Bagong Silangan, Quezon City."

The three other co-accused -- Jackielyn W. Roy, Ingrid C. Canada and Sylvia Cemanes -- were ordered detained at the Female Dormitory of the Quezon City Jail in Camp Karingal in Diliman, also in Quezon City.

The PNP was ordered by Judge Parel to present all the accused during their scheduled arraignment at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 13.

Following their arrest last Sunday, Sept. 8, in Davao City, Quiboloy and his co-accused have been detained at the PNP's Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Quiboloy and his co-accused were charged with violation of Section 10 (a) of Republic Act No. 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The case involved the alleged sexual abuse committed against a 17-year-old girl in 2011.

It was filed initially before the Davao City RTC but the Supreme Court (SC), on a pleading filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ), transfered the case to the QC RTC.

Quiboloy also has a non-bailable qualified human trafficking case before the Pasig City RTC which had issued an arrest order.
