ILOILO CITY – Former Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog here said he has forgiven former President Rodrigo Duterte for the threats and accusations as a protector of a major drug syndicate.

“As a true Christian, I forgive him,” said Mabilog in an interview with Karen Davila over ANC Headstart on Tuesday, September 10.
“While I experienced all this pain and this persecution, God always work for the best and His plans are always best for you,” Mabilog said.
The mayor cried during the interview, his first since 2017 after he and his family left the country following Duterte's public threat to have him killed for allegedly protecting the drug syndicate of Melvin “Boyet” Odicta, who was killed in August 2016.
Mabilog also said he will not file any cases against Duterte or those in the bloody drug war.
He said cases filed before the International Criminal Court (ICC) are good enough.
Mabilog on Tuesday, September 10, returned to the country from exile.

It was first reported he lived in Canada but he later confirmed that the United States granted him political asylum.
Mabilog has expressed willingness to come home and attend the congressional investigation on the bloody drug war of the Duterte administration.
